A Tale of Two City Development Choices: Audio Companion #63

Before what is sure to be a packed City Council session Monday May 13th the Beacon crew discuss the many modes of development as well as a few more immediate and resident oriented matters.

  • Hilliard’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors had another successful outing
(Contact Info for those needing assistance email: Parks2@hilliardohio.gov )

  • The City plans to install five “No Turn on Red” signs to improve pedestrian safety throughout the city over the coming months. Details can be found HERE

  • There is an opening following a resignation on the Board of Zoning Appeals

  • Bear’s Bagels are going through sign process steps leading up to their much anticipated Old Hilliard shop opening up.

  • Kevin discusses a Brown Township concern brewing regarding rural zoning potentially being taken (to some degree) up at the state level. Little text for the bill currently exists but we will be monitoring.

  • The Hickory Chase Community Authority appointed members to its board as part of the ongoing review oversight of the former Hickory Chase Senior development site. Now home to the CML branch and some new zoning adjustments for the 22 acres of sub area C-4 new development in new categories is sought to bring the site goals into alignment with the overall Community Plan.

  • In the final 10 minutes we discuss the dueling CRA based development projects known as Britton Flex and Edwards Farm. One of these CRAs uses city tools to help longtime employer Eco Plumbers, Electricians, and HVAC Technicians expand and solidify their presence while the other is much more speculative in nature.

  • Take note of our in-line “House Ad” to take advantage of Tim’s excellent coffee HERE

  • Volunteers with Keep Hilliard Beautiful put in a tough, soggy shift over the weekend and helped clean up portions of the Scioto Darby roadside. We look forward to hosting these and more volunteers for conversations on how we can all work together to help each other and improve our lives here in Hilliard.
