Advanced Drainage Systems, Equity, and City of Hilliard Building Shared Future
New Build - New Era
Construction is under way on the nearly $200 million, 52-acre mixed-use development to be known as TruePointe and Advanced Drainage Systems is to be an anchor tenant.
ADS will move from its current corporate headquarters that it has occupied for more than 20 years at 4640 Trueman Boulevard into new headquarters at TruePointe, on the west side of Trueman Boulevard, and just east of Interstate 270.
ADS is to lease the new 75,000 square-foot headquarters from longtime neighbor Equity, the developer on the overall project.
“We will move out of the Trueman facility (and) a new tenant has not been identified yet,” said Brian King, executive vice president of marketing and sustainability for ADS.
The company will also be consolidating operations in the larger, new facility from currently leased Mill Run offices
“Our new headquarters will facilitate ADS’ growth, as well as the development of products designed to capture, convey, store and treat our most precious resource, water. In consolidating our corporate headquarters at TruePointe, and with (our) engineering and technology center nearby, our commitment to the City of Hilliard and (the state of) Ohio continues.” Scott Barbour, president and CEO of ADS.
This latest announcement continues a local growth streak for ADS.
As Barbour mentioned, construction of a $65 million, 110,000-square-foot engineering and technology center (focusing on research and development) on 17 acres at Davidson Road and Lyman Drive, on the west side of Interstate 270, began late last year.
It is expected to open in mid-2024 and eventually pair with the new HQ
“We are thrilled that ADS, a staple in Hilliard for so long, will become the first anchor tenant in this transformative new space,” said Steve Wathen, the CEO of Equity.
“The company’s history of innovation, as well as its ability to continue as an economic engine for the city and state, makes it a perfect fit for TruePointe, the city’s first true live-work-play mixed-use development. We’re excited to work with ADS to create a space where they can succeed and grow for the future,” Wathen said.
The new ADS headquarters at TruePointe will also demonstrate the company’s commitment to water and sustainability, according to King.
ADS pipe will manage storm water runoff for the entire development. The company is developing the rainwater capture and reuse system for its new headquarters office building as well, and as the first anchor tenant at TruePointe, the ADS brand and products will extend throughout the site, including its distinctive green stripe and brand colors, King said.
Hilliard City Manager Michelle Crandall said she is pleased to see ADS continue to grow in Hilliard.
“Adding ADS to TruePointe demonstrates how multiuse developments can draw companies to locations that offer a unique setting and amenities to employers and their employees. ADS is an ideal corporate citizen in Hilliard as a top employer, leader in sustainability and water management, and a key community partner. We look forward to supporting the company’s growth over the coming years,” Crandall said.
In 2021, ADS completed a renovation of the lobby at its current headquarters and added a new monument to make the brand more visible.
ADS was founded in 1966 in Delaware by engineers Ron Martin and Marty Sixt as a company that constructed drainage systems for agriculture purposes, managing storm water in new ways to increase crop yields, according to King.
It has since become a leading manufacturer of innovative storm water and onsite septic wastewater solutions.
The company is also one of the largest plastic recycling companies in North America, ensuring over half a billion pounds of plastic is kept out of landfills every year, King said.
It is expected that the first TruePointe facilities will be ready in early 2025 and ADS plans to move in that same year.
ADS is a world class industry leader that, as far as I know, has always been in Hilliard. A huge plus for the community over the years. Glad to see their investment continue.
