An Active City 'On the Move'
Hilliard City Manager Michelle Crandall is to deliver the State of the City address Wednesday, March 27.
A summary of the significant economic developments underway in Hilliard this year will highlight the State of the City address that City Manager Michelle Crandall is to deliver later this month.
Crandall began her fifth year in January as Hilliard’s first city manager after voters in 2018 approved a charter amendment that changed Hilliard’s form of government from that of a strong mayor to city manager.
This year, Crandall’s theme- and the name of the address- is “On the Move.”
The event is to be staged from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 27 at the Center Street Market.
Crandall is to begin her address at 6 p.m.
You can RSVP (although not necessary) for the free event HERE
Crandall’s address is expected to include the latest news in local business development within the city, latest updates on construction of the city’s Recreation and Wellness Campus, and other recent accomplishments and future goals.
“We're still fine-tuning on the scripting, but (Crandall) will speak about major economic developments,” including TruePointe, Advanced Drainage Systems, Forsee, and Amazon, said David Ball, director of community relations for Hilliard.
Crandall’s address will lay out how Hilliard’s business community growth leads to a greater quality of life for residents by building profits and taxable revenues. And further, how that growth is resulting in Hilliard’s recognition throughout Ohio and the United States, Ball said.
Last year, Hilliard was honored to be named one of the “Top Seven Intelligent Communities in the World” by the Intelligent Community Forum, Crandall said.
“ICF’s international program recognizes communities that demonstrate best practices in broadband connectivity, workforce development, digital inclusion, innovation, community engagement, and sustainability,” Crandall said.
In 2023, Hilliard was also named the “Best Suburb to Do Business In” by the readers of Columbus CEO Magazine.
Crandall’s address will also recognize a number of city staff and corporate members whose efforts have benefitted the city.
Economic Development Director David Meadows was named a 2023 “40 Under 40” honoree by Columbus Business First and Hilliard’s technology incubator Converge Technologies was named one of ten recipients of the Columbus Inno BizTech Fire Awards, which honors innovators reshaping the Columbus region.
These and other examples of how Hilliard is ‘on the move’ are expected to be included in Crandall’s State of the City address beginning at 5:30 p.m. March 27 at Center Street Market, 5354 Center St.
