In Other Weekend News: City Manager will deliver annual address March 27th
Michelle Crandall will begin her fifth year in January as Hilliard’s first city manager after voters in 2018 approved a charter amendment that changed the form of local government.
This year, Crandall’s theme- and the name of the address- is “On the Move.”
The address is to be staged from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 27 at the Center Street Market.
Crandall is to begin her address at 6 p.m.
The speech is expected to include the latest news in local business development within the city and progress, construction of the city’s Recreation and Wellness Campus, and other recent accomplishments and future goals.
Grammy-nominated country music duo Big & Rich will ride into Hilliard July 4 to headline Freedom Fest 2024.
The songwriters and vocalists are well-known nationally for hits ranging from the country, rock, and rap-fused “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy,” to the seriousness of “8th of November,” an account of a soldier in the 173th Airborne Brigade during action in the Vietnam War on Nov. 8, 1965.
Big & Rich won Best New County Duo/Group of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards in 2004 and “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” was nominated for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group at the Grammy Awards in 2005.
Opening acts (The group will be on a concurrent tour with Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy but they are as yet unannounced for July 4th) at Freedom Fest begin performing at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 4 at Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park, 3800 Municipal Way.
Further details about opening acts, shuttles to Municipal Park, events maps, and a summary of rules and regulations are forthcoming on the City of Hilliard’s website and social media.
