Football is commonly associated with Thanksgiving but if you’re looking for a unique activity to undertake during the extended weekend, visit the “big top” at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard.
The Great Benjamin Circus is at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, 4100 Columbia Street, through Sunday, Nov. 26.
Performances begin at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, followed by two shows at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, three shows at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25, and three shows at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26.
Founded almost 10 years ago the Great Benjamin Circus tours about 10 months each year, from March to the end of the year in Canada and throughout the United States.
“As a cast, we are simply sharing what we love to do with our audiences,” said Eva Rodriguez, a performing artist and director of choreography for The Great Benjamin Circus.
The cast about 15 performers at one show hail from countries from across the globe.
The shows include acts traditionally associated with a circus such as trapeze artists, clowns and jugglers, but also other acts such as acrobats and boomerang exhibitions.
“Prepare to be amazed by a lineup of world-class performers, including acrobats defying gravity, whimsical clowns spreading joy, skillful jugglers showcasing their dexterity, and much more,” Rodriguez said.
The fairgrounds are best accessible from the entrance on Northwest parkway just east of Avery Road.
Parking is $5 per vehicle.
