Hilliard will add a second assistant city manager to its administrative ranks April 29 when Kyle Kridler officially begins his tenure.
Kridler will join Dan Ralley as Hilliard’s second assistant city manager.
Ralley was hired in January 2021 as the city’s first assistant city manager, one year after Hilliard City Manager Michelle Crandall was installed as Hilliard’s first city manager Jan. 1, 2020.
Prior to Crandall’s appointment by Hilliard City Council, Hilliard was led by elected mayors.
But in November 2018, voters approved a charter change to change the city’s form of government from that of a strong mayor to a city manager, similar to many other central Ohio suburbs such as Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, Upper Arlington and New Albany.
Prior to accepting the new post in Hilliard, Kridler had been assistant city manager in Delaware since 2019.
Prior to working in Delaware, Kridler worked as the economic development administrator in the development department, and as a management assistant in the office of the city manager, at Dublin.
Crandall was the assistant city manager in Dublin before being hired as Hilliard’s first city manager.
From 2011 to 2014, Kridler was a management assistant in the City of Westerville’s department of administrative services.
Kridler has a master’s degree in public administration from Wright State University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Penn State University.
Crandall called Kridler “a true public servant” who possesses “a passion for improving communities and the lives of residents” who reside there.
“Kyle brings a strategic leadership and relationship-building skillset to our team that is needed as we continue to provide better services to our residents,” Crandall said.
In his role overseeing the city’s recreation-and-parks department, Kridler will play a critical role in the opening of the city’s Recreation and Wellness Campus in 2025, Crandall said.
“I am looking forward to joining the City of Hilliard and becoming a part of the team. There are many exciting things happening (and Hilliard) is involved in a variety of innovative, forward-thinking projects,” Kridler said.
