Primary Takes Four to November Contest
Tina Cottone, Kathy Parker-Jones, Andy Teater and Nadia Rasul Advance to General Election - Brown Township Decides Fire Levy
Hilliard City Council President Tina Cottone led a seven- candidate field in a May 6 Democrat primary election to advance to the general election in November, according to final unofficial results from the Franklin County Board of Elections.
Cottone, challenger Kathy Parker-Jones, incumbent Andy Teater, and challenger Nadia Rasul completed the slate of four Democrat candidates who are to advance.
Cottone received 1,933 votes and Parker-Jones was runner-up with 1,871 votes.
Teater, who flipped parties to run as a Democrat, received 1,777 votes.
He is completing his second four-year term on City Council and was first elected as a Republican.
Rasul received 1,688 votes.




On the outside looking in was Dorothy Hassan (1,588 votes); Tony Moog (1,493 votes); and Samer Bazerbashi (1,357 votes).
The four successful primary candidates will advance to the general election in November against three Republicans: incumbent Les Carrier, and challengers Jim Martin and Bevan Schneck.
Peggy Hale, an incumbent Republican, did not seek re-election.
Current council members Cynthia Vermillion, a Democrat; Democrat Greg Betts, and Democrat Emily Cole, are mid-term.
Four seats are up for election in November.

In another local issue, voters in Brown Township approved a fire levy. The levy passed with 470 votes in favor of it, and 355 votes against it.
