Wheels on the Bus and Other Questions
First time using the school transportation system? Read on for all the info you need!
Riding on a school bus for the first time- instead of the back of mom or dad’s car- can be exciting as it is scary for many kindergarten students and other first-time bus riders.

To help make the transition as smooth as possible, Hilliard City Schools offers a family event that provides the opportunity- before the district’s first day of school on Aug. 21- for first-time bus riders to experience riding a school bus.
Weaver Middle School, 4600 Avery Road, is hosting “First Time Riders” from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 10.
The event allows a chance for children to explore a bus, learn about bus safety, and just what to expect when the district’s fleet of school buses begin bus routes on Aug 21.
It also doubles as a photo op for parents and guardians to enjoy a childhood milestone.
“This exciting opportunity allows families to watch little ones take their first bus ride while learning about bus safety from our experience drivers,” said Angelo Caputo, coordinator of transportation for Hilliard City Schools.
“It’s a wonderful way to introduce children to the bus-riding experience and ensure they understand the importance of bus safety. We look forward to welcoming our young riders and their families to this special event,” Caputo said.
I wish I could ride the bus again!
