We shift over to some fun talk about The Greenbrier and current owner Jim Justice’s auction woes. By now it’s common knowledge but for almost 30 years the luxury resort held the secret of being the nation’s congressional fallout bunker!
Lastly we put on our deerstalker and piece together some interesting movement on the Retired Rail Corridor.
Appearing on pages 136 through 143 of the Community Plan, as one of the 8 Focus Areas for our city, the 165 acre strip runs across Hilliard and will eventually play a huge role in our public infrastructure.
First, It was recently reported in the Columbus Axios Newsletter that state funding had been secured for expansion of the Heritage Trail.
We also did some dot connecting as it pertains to recent postings by Hilliard Government discussing the LinkUS project and its various objectives:
Whatever the future holds for this stretch of land there will be no aspect of life in Hilliard left untouched by such a transformation. There may be opportunities for housing or energy generation alongside the trail infrastructure. The screen capture below indicates the planned LinkUS / MORPC project for both the rail corridor and the Leap Road shared use path. Note the prospective timeline for projects at left.
