So all the people that live along Jeannette and Leap are just going to willingly sell their land to the city or a developer?

Any land acquisition would likely have to start with the railroad as the principal land holder and adjacent home and property owners would have to be at the heart of any process whether it would be to sell or for thoughtful incentives and inclusion. We’re playing our part as interested observers and reporters and will keep asking for good information.

The railway is in a right of way and not owned by the property owners. This is a sale from the railroad to the government. The citizens along the railway do not own it. There may be certain areas where they want more land for (i.e. a rest area, a turnaround, maintenance) where there would be a purchase from the residents affected, but largely this is land not owned by the residents.
